Great news: to work, ProbeScope doesn't need to collect your personal data, and we try hard to avoid it.
It's just a network monitoring tool, after all. To probe your target hosts, ProbeScope identifies network interfaces on your system and runs locally installed plugins. All monitoring data stays on your local computer.
We do use a small amount of information about the ProbeScope instance itself for things like license management, and we want to be clear about what we need and why.
1. This website
Your privacy matters. This website is intentionally simple and does not use any advertising networks, analytics platforms, or social media trackers.
We do not use: Google Analytics, Facebook/Meta Pixel, Twitter/X tracking, Third-party advertising nor any other marketing trackers or Cross-site tracking technologies
We do not collect personal information about your browsing activity, build advertising profiles, or sell or share your data with third parties.
Like virtually all websites, our server may temporarily record basic technical information (such as your IP address, browser type, and requested pages) in standard server logs. These logs are used solely to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service, and are not used for advertising or behavioral tracking.
If you choose to contact us, we will use the information you provide only to respond to your inquiry.
Our goal is simple: provide useful software without unnecessary data collection.
2. Purchases
Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. When you purchase a ProbeScope license, your payment details, billing address, and email are collected and processed directly by Stripe under its own privacy policy. We receive your name, email address, and purchase details in order to deliver your license.
3. The ProbeScope application
ProbeScope runs entirely on your own infrastructure. Your monitoring data - hosts, results, and history - stays local, stored in an embedded SQLite database on the machine you run it on. We do not receive it.
ProbeScope does periodically send us a small amount of information about the installation itself, for license management and to understand how many machines run ProbeScope: an anonymized hash of your machine's hardware ID (not the raw ID itself), your license tier, the ProbeScope version, and your operating system. This happens at most once every 24 hours. The server that receives this also logs the IP address it came from and derives an approximate city/country location from it.
4. Can we forget about you?
Sure. If you'd like a copy of the data we hold about you, or want it removed from our records, email support@probescope.net and we'll take care of it.
